About

A short biographic note

I use different variations of text to explain things that interest me or others. My main medium is lecture performance, with which I have dived into a multitude of topics. I also write stories and draw comics. However, most of my time is now devoted to my family and salaried work.

I was born in Barcelona in 1990. I studied political and administration sciences at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, with a year spent at UCLA. During my studies I specialized in international relations and political violence. During this time I discovered critical theory, the importance of indicators, and how to structure my thoughts through PowerPoint presentations.

Parallel to my studies, I did some DJing under the moniker “DJ O’Royal”, wrote fanzines, created with some enthusiastic friends the Universal Agency for Mental Revolution, and did some radio in Victor Nubla’s radio show “Musica i Geografia”.

In 2014 I moved to Vienna, Austria. A serendipitous combination of language limitations and finding a group of friends in the alternative art scene of the city made me discover lecture performances. With them, I still could produce pieces on topics that interested me while experimenting with many formats around interacting with audiences.

Besides lecture performances, I have been making cartoons and comics mostly for my Instagram page. Aside from that, I have written texts and stories, which have been published in different languages and outlets.

Obsessions

Since the birth of my first daughter, I have had to invest most of my time in salaried work and family. However, I have been lucky enough to keep diving into some of my obsessions. Here I try to list them, as these are things that drive my work.

The Digital

From underwater cables to Twitch streamers, passing through Habbo Hotel, techno feudalism, webcam aesthetics or algorithmic determinism, what happens in the machine and how it goes beyond it fascinates me. I consume a lot of media on the topic, and have had the chance to work on this both in writings and performances.

Speculative Fiction

As a kid, I devoured Jules Verne and Star Trek, as a teenager, Philip K. Dick. and Margaret Atwood, and speculation as a way of telling stories still plays an important role in how I see the world and what I enjoy from it. I could make a very long list of media I love that falls into this category. I also write sci-fi when I find time for it!

Politics

I studied political science. I have been active in a couple of political initiatives. I hope I find time soon again to do that, as I find that escaping the political is impossible, and a great balm against the depressing realities we face is actively offering alternatives to them.

Games

Being an only child, I invented many games to play by myself. The joy of playing and making games has accompanied me since then, and now it has gained in importance in my time. I am currently running some TTRPGs and developing a couple more ideas to play. Moreover, I am interested in game design, the history of games, and media criticism of games.

Humor

The Simpsons was a pivotal series for me, as it was for many in my generation. It sparked a deep interest in humor, leading me to explore not only a wide range of comics, series, and films but also the underlying mechanics of what makes something funny. While I’ve been less active in pursuing this interest in recent years, my passion for humor has influenced many of my projects.

Comics

I just love comics. We can meet and talk about them.
